The 2019 Dandelion Wishes Gala was at the forefront of life-saving medical treatment; contributing over $800,000 to the establishment of a dedicated Monash Health Paediatric Emergency Department.

The new Paediatric Emergency Department will include an unparalleled Calm Room; designed specifically for children with neurological conditions. It will also include two procedure rooms for medical interventions, comfortable waiting areas, and a play room – all contributing to delivering patient-centred care and optimising hospital and patient flow.

With a specific focus on supporting children with neurological conditions, the new Paediatric Emergency Department Calm Room will provide an immersive and welcoming environment where a child’s behaviour can be de-escalated, and feelings of anxiety minimised. The Calm Room will provide physical and emotional comfort to children through ambient experience, and promote patient and staff contact to improve patient cooperation.
